Family modification in an old warehouse

This Australian warehouse building has been serving already 75 years according to its function. After these, three times had been tried to turn it into a home, but the attempts were always half-baked. Until an enthusiastic family and their own bussiness after two years of preparations they finally succeeded.

The family houses tried to keep as much as was possible from the original structure. For example, the wooden columns that hold the old ceiling, today can be seen between the frame of the front door and the sheets of the dining table.

After entering, we can see immediately the conference room. There are masculine, raw furniture in front of a brick wall. Between the Chesterfield sofa and the coffee colored leather armchairs there is an antique desk and a tripod lamp transformed from a reflector.

The kitchen is a sharp style change compared to the previous room. Clear-out, modern lines and stainless steel panels provide the minimalist atmosphere.

The already mentioned dining table is surrounded by vitra chairs. Behind them, classical, brown armchairs delight us. A wonderful, wood-fired iron stove lies under the steel-framed window.

On the flight of stairs and rustic corridor self-made pictures, respectively objects acquired during trips/journeys decorate and as well as personalize the space.

In the bedroom provided with oriental ornamentation a graceful art-deco seat is located next to the double bed. The noble and light structure looks good among the heavy-duty walls and beams.

French limestone covers the floor of the bathroom. Beside the spectacular element simple, white tiles and wood-fillers make the furnishing.

The children’s bedroom is a creative space full with sunshine. Fit well the dark surfaces and pastel accessories.

The last room is cheerful, open and is the center of the family life. The garishness of the patterned carpet and the harmonizing painting is counterbalanced by a butter-colored corner sofa and a light desk.

Really imaginative/creative solutions were born, that bring to the fore the history. A gloomy, industrial framework embraces in the some places bohemian and elsewhere definite interior.
