An eclectic and special loft

In our Current Curiosities column we present a Los Angeles home that was furnished by an artist couple and, which is decorated with DIY specialties and vintage pieces. To the design the owners mixed a wide variety of inspiration, their own memories, objects and various styles.

The wooden beams and support columns that give the living rooms’ framework, harmonize with the likewise wooden floor. Similarly tarnished furniture can be found in the sunny space, this way the dark Chesterfield sofa, as well as the simple wooden table catch the eye as a massive and serious piece of furniture. The color and clarity of the retro reading lamps fit well with the gray and white walls. The graceful, metallic accessories, such as the camping chairs and pendant lamps conjure jauntiness into the furnishing. The (ceramic) plant holder worked up from a barrel is a real DIY exoticism, in turn above the chunky billiard table that can be seen in the background was housed a joyful accordion lamp.

Beside the entertainment corner received place a smaller library as well, where you can sit on a leather sofa from the ‘60s, while on the top of the lower bookshelf the loudspeakers are decorated with fencing masks.

The working corner can be seen next to the living room. The classical, ebony wood dining table serves as meeting table, which is surrounded by modern, gray chairs. In its color uniform, but different styled place is illuminated by a huge, dark colored, industrial lamp.

In the open-plan loft the sleeping area was separated from the living room with a curtain. Here, behind a thick, white curtain puritan, metal framed beds can be seen. In the nearby bathroom again the gray and white colors dominate and where the sink was transformed from and old sideboard.

In the kitchen a more cheerful, more colorful furnishing was realized. Beside the white, built-in kitchen furniture a bohemian, retro carpet was put. To the rust-colored carpet patterns fit well the colors of the special pendant lamp. The copper framed shelf and the concrete vessel further enhance the eclectic general effect.
