Rust belt – wagons factory of Ganz

There are many interesting places we visit during our treasure hunt. Old and under demolition galleries with beautiful steel structures of the roof building, abandoned office buildings, factories with gloomy courtyards. Through photos taken by us, we are trying to revoke the special atmosphere of these places. (photo: Peter Gallo) Current images shows former wagon factory of Ganz, [...]

Renovation of a loft-like gallery

A swedish couple realized their dream to create an art gallery. In the Gallery Linnman opened in September 2011 interior accessories and furniture can be purchased. Besides these its goal is to become a center for the Swedish and international arts. For this an old factory built in 1901 was obtained and the couple began with the renovation. Burnt paper factory

A burnt-out, abandoned paper mill in Budafok (Budapest). Founded at the end of 1800 and during operation of this factory it was one of the largest paper mills in Hungary. Now the factory is the home of the homeless, the vegetation is overgrown, the rails are industry-leave (more photos). The Centre for Contemporary Architecture has launched an initiative [...]

The fabric of the building, and the furniture within, has been selected for [...]

Duplex loft from a bakery

Ed Roth, owner of Stencil 101 converted an old bakery to a dwelling. In the great interior (whit the kitchen, dining room, living room), the colors are more subdued to put the center of gravity to the amazing pieces, which often came from flea markets. The turquoise dining table, what was once a garden bench has now been [...]

Eastern Hungarian Industries

Recently I found a Hungarian website (www.muemlekem.hu), where all the Hungarian monumental buildings are presented. Of these I have selected four with devastating buildings. All four are located in the ambience of Miskolc and Ózd, in the so-called Hungarian “rust triangle”. Screw factory in Miskolc: This complex is in very poor condition, the windows are missing in [...]
