Old fashioned, Australian housing with antique features

A Victorian-style, eclectic home is standing not far from the coasts of Australia. The idyllic and comfortable home has been transformed by its new owners after several decades. Beside the comfort the main aspects of the furnishing meant the simplicity and the interest towards a couple of antique pieces.

The dining room’s worn walls in a tarnished way are decorated by modern and 19th century styles evoking paintings. Beside the simple dining table there are Thonet chairs. The atmosphere draws inspiration from the 1920s and ‘30s. To the carefully carved table legs fit well the old carpet and the explosion-proof, industrial lamp.

In the kitchen behind the dining area there are a dark kitchen table and a metal sink.

On the living room’s exciting patch-work carpet white sofas are adorned, while the eventful patterns are echoed on the wall picture. The space’s most intimate corner is centered around the old fireplace. The meticulously worked stove is crowned by a mirror supplemented with art deco styled frame. The subtle frame and slim holders are decorated by elegant busts and vintage photos.

The stove’s past-evoking atmosphere is harmonizing with the room’s antique cabinets. The sorter originating from the 19th century and the drawers from the 1930s, lying on marble sheet draw the attention to themselves.

Beside the living room’s red-brick corner was housed the reading part/section. On simple wooden shelves, beside the books magazines and a French ceramic collection are resting. You can relax on rattan rocking chairs.

The furniture and accessories that represent the last century’s style received their place in the bedroom as well. In front of the striking, but yet tastefully decorated double bed we can see a nest of drawers. As bedside table functions a metal cabinet covered with marble slab. An empty picture frame, an old folkweave, a rusty ladder and used window shutters with industrial style twist take us back in time.

We can find a lot of vintage treasures among the old-fashioned walls. However, among the high standard of details and one or two outstanding furniture, due to the little bit worn pieces and surfaces we can feel that this interior is mature and at the same time contemporary as well.
