Studio house from a Danish island

An artist-couple inhabit this house, far from everything, on the coast of a Danish island. The residents drew inspiration from the grayish, meditative tones, the shipping and the airy spaces.

The interior space of the stone house was divided into two bigger parts, below is the studio, upwards is the living space.

The studio’s metal framed windows half are covered with paper. The real highlight of the space is the adjustable, antique drawing table. In the workshop we can find many tarnished furniture, as the old wooden letter-cabinet, vintage suitcases, the small display case that contains hundreds of pencils and a chimney piece that serves as decoration. The fold-out chair evokes the feel of the nearby beach and sailing.

A charming, small kitchenette is also located in the bottom of the apartment, where only the most necessary equipments fit.

Beside the letter-cabinet an old iron stove provides the warmth. Here it is possible to go up on a ladder into the living and bedroom area. The above space as well dominated by works of art, inspiring sculptures and ceramics. The wooden floor and the cord-shaped balustrade again may come into our mind the ships, while the white walls highlight the graceful elegance of the furnishing. In the white showcases we can see thousands of trinkets.

The clear-out, simple furnishing hides accent pieces and creative accessories. Every little corner inspires the inhabitants, summons the nearby nature and local traditions. All in all, the owners managed to achieve a genuine, industrial atmosphere, Scandinavian artist’s home.
