The power of colors in a French loft

Caroline Gomez furniture designer together with her daughter and husband formed their family nest in a Bordeaux gramophone repair factory building’s that was built in the 1930s. The designer first in her home studio plans and presents her latest pieces. In the huge, basically white building with different colors are limited the dining, living room and working areas.

In the living room huge windows are letting in the natural light. The furniture are the representatives of Scandinavian style of the 1950s or are Caroline’s self-designed pieces, such as the floor lamp that can be seen on one of the tables. We can see only a few colors, just the mint green Eames rocking chair, in color harmonizing wall segment and some yellow cushions throw up the white and neutral shades. In one of the living room corners, in front of a yellow colored wall there is the dining, which center is formed by the simple, white round table. Around it there are placed the chairs of Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen and Eames designers.

The kitchen had been separated with glass walls from the space of the living room, next to the dining room. In addition to the bright, wooden built-in kitchen furniture pastel-colored accessories are throwing up the atmosphere, like the yellow decorative plate or the vintage enameled pots. The kitchen’s dash of color is the pink, the Smeg brand fridge originating from the 1960s.

On the other corner of the open-plan living room light blue painted walls are indicating the designer’s studio. Here separate color palette provides the inspiration, on factory shelves according to color tones are placed the books, and in turn the working table is the “companion” of the dining table. The systematic work is insured by the white file-case.

The master bedroom that is located upstairs is designated by a grey wall segment. The bedside table is made up by metal file-cases, on top of which again we can see an own designed lamp. The children’s room is represented by a gladder wall color, the turquoise, behind the simple wooden desk.

Upstairs a separate space is designated for the family togetherness. This is also indicated by a pale gray color. The cozy corner is decorated with a sideboard purchased from the flea market, originating from the middle of the last century, with self-designed shelves and a funny patterned sofa.
