Gorgeous home in a former cement factory

Invalid Displayed Gallery

It is a grandiose undertaking to convert into a home a huge cement factory complex. Ricardo Bofill architect over 45 years transformed the monster near Barcelona that was built after the World War II.

The original structure almost everywhere is covered with green vegetation. The former chimneys that worked as air-polluting machine, today function as a spectacular garden with olive trees, branches of eucalyptus and palm trees.

The center of the family life is the kitchen-dining room. Between worn walls and pipes elegant, smooth and ebony black furniture adorn. Streamlined counter and classic pieces blink in the sunlight.

Under rusty, industrial furnishing is hidden the meeting room and office. Between the unlike any other structure is dwarfed the massive conference table, while the designer racks strengthen the workshop atmosphere.

There aren’t two rooms that are the same. In the intimate bedroom a cozy bath dominates the space.

The imposing internal structures are framed in the living room by huge curtains. The rigor of the regular bookshelf is lightened by playful/bohemian chairs. White shades illuminate between the tormented walls.

The furnishing tries to inspire all the form of tranquility and creativity, for example with a piano and the forming of interior spaces that are suitable for sporting.

It is almost impossible to condense in a moment this versatile, ever-changing building that shines in isolation from the noise of the world.
