Workshop and family home in an old Belgian house

Invalid Displayed Gallery

During its long history, all owners extended and formed with new parts this traditional, Flemish building. Its current owners sought to highlight the historical details and novelistic side and of course they designed the spaces in such way that left space for their creative studio as well.

In the simple living room and dining tarnished strip floor and white walls frame the minimalist furnishing. The carved-leg dining table is surrounded by Eames, Bertoia and vintage chairs. Abstract paintings, dolls and colorful DIY decorations adorn the room. The black frame of a former fireplace offsets the whiteness of the walls.

The frame of a modern floor lamp is in harmony with the simple metal shelves. Beside clear-out, simple tables in another corner were housed an imposing picture and stunning sculpture. It is not surprising that also the roller corner of an old wooden display cabinet decorates one of the walls.

In the reading-café corner a retro, small coffee table and cozy, huge bookshelves are dominating. To the strong atmosphere fits well the two, cappuccino-colored leather armchairs. Graphite colored, oval wall decoration and in style similar hanging lamp constitute the restrained, yet firm supplement/accessory.

In the kitchen, on worn tiles a metal framed, small dining table stands surrounded by wooden chairs. The metal frame of the floor lamp fits well with the graceful lines of the table. Old kitchen furniture and huge glass windows conjure as tarnished the place.

In the separated space of the studio there are colored, abstract statues. Concrete floor and white walls ensure the neutral, yet strong background for the works of art.

In the big, open spaces of the red-brick, industrial-windowed industrial building it is well separated the family life and work. The furnishing that emphasizes the elements of the robust structure, also works well with few furniture.
