Natural materials and grey dinginess in a soft loft

Invalid Displayed Gallery

It is a cool, yet intimate and melancholic loft in one of Chicago’s warehouses. The dinginess of the factory environment is mixed with grey shades and vintage wooden furniture.

The living room it is situated in front of a huge, metal framed industrial window. On the light grey walls tarnished gaps can be seen, a corner sofa and a bookshelf are the main pieces. The striking pieces are surrounded by lots of accessories. Behind the couch there are an empty frame and a picture that rhymes with the imperfections of the wall. On a worn, sun-bleached and fringed carpet there are a small table shaped from a log and a unique coffee table. The series of the haggard decorations are further increased by some clay flower plant pot and a dark puff.

In the dining room that is at one end of the living room there is a big wooden table. The matt, dark grey slats are surrounded by dark, three-legged chairs. In the metal colored environment a warmly lighting pendant lamp conjures warmth.

Under the bare extractor fan of the slightly secluded kitchen runs a practical, vintage filing wooden cabinet. In front of a rusty, draftsman bar stool there is a higher, wooden kitchen counter. The industrial atmosphere is being made complete by former gasoline cans.

The upper story can be reached on iron stairs, the imposing surface is reflected on the walls as well. On the top of the stairs we arrive into a small workroom. Here, a simple, iron framed desk is framed by a slender lamp. A metal box, wooden basket and an indolently hanged fabric create the inspiring decoration.

In the bedroom shaped in the attic on pallid strip floor there is a low double bed. Again, we can see several decorative elements. Next to rattan baskets and similar lampshades appears a wooden small chair, which functions as a bedside table.

On the shelves of a minimalist bathroom only a wash basin rests. Beside a small, black framed mirror and a wall lamp there is an unusual element, a bunch of hey as well was housed in the room.

Character, massive structure dominates the loft, to which’s magnificence the interior draws our attention. Faded, grayish furniture highlight the time’s wounds and the industrial past.
