Our holiday house…

Two years ago, we have acquired an old Zala stone house on a vine hill, which was gradually renovated. The end is still far, but it takes shape.

Our dining room and kitchen is in the same space, let’s see, what was our dining room.

The whole house was made of black basalt stone 80 years ago. In one place we beat down the plaster in the whole house, and we allowed to be seen the black stones on the wall of the dining room. We tried there many furniture, but in front of the dark color and on the plain concrete floor only the colorful pieces look good. Despite, we love the metal and dark colors, they are lost in front of the stone wall…

As dining table we placed an old, big-sized demolition table. It is a massive piece, on its top panel still can be seen the traces of cuts. It is surrounded by vintage, original Eames chairs, respectively by a Tripp Trapp baby chair for our daughter, which was painted to gray by us. Eight people as well can sit comfortably here.

Above the table Italian retro orange lamps are hanging and the give a beautiful light.

In the corner a stunning blue workshop cabinet absorbs the board games and small things. Above it an abstract painting hangs, Joseph Kádár: Négyzetek/Squares. In its color tones rhymes with the furniture,  with its design in turn with the contrast strenghtens the retro pottery and rustic objects.

The concrete floor received special additive at the construction, but in the end additionally we also varnished it, in order to not remain traces of food stains and dog leg. It is not 100% smooth, can be seen  the mason’s scraper and the traces of the filber mouse who live on the attic, it is rustic, that’s why we love it.

To be continued.
