Rustic interior in a traditional, English building

It is a traditional, red-brick, London apartment, which inside hides an elegant, modern furnishing. The building’s spacious, second-floor apartment after 45 years was re-designed by the owners.

The shaping of the open, sunlit spaces and the emphasising of the recycled furniture and structures, during the design of the new living space it was a pivot point. From the corridor covered with strip floor we open into the different rooms. Behind the first door it is housed the elegant living room. Neutral colors and materials dominate the interior. In the center stands a coffee table and a green small table that were re-dreamed from a worn wooden box. The striking, leather sofa set further strengthens the noble, ancient atmosphere, while the LED TV creates an astounding, contemporary splash of color.

In the same area there is a clear-out kitchen. The grey, built-in kitchen furniture is completed with industrial details. It would have been a mistake to cover the copper taps and the sheathed hood, this way they bring a metallic shine among the matt surfaces. Beside the simple dining table yellow, worn, carefully carved, vintage chairs were placed. The lighting is provided by a special pendant lamp that is beside the windows, which pair can be seen in the living room as well.

The other part of the kitchen is insulated with a blue door. Above the red floor on wooden shelves, kitchen utensils are lined up. The multitude of benches, potteries and textiles as well decorate the cozy room.

The bedrooms are located in a more closed, private area. Admiring the detail-rich, public areas we can conclude that the idyllic, traditional brick walls hide a rustic, vintage furnishing spiced with a hint of industrial harmony.
